Traditionally, university teaching draws from the academic research. The curriculum is mostly informed by the distinct expertise and research interests of the full professors. This aligns well with providing a disciplinary grounded education which is productive for future PhD students recruited to develop their expertise and career within the distinct discipline or research area. However, societal demands might be different and are often more volatile than the process of generating knowledge within the academe.
This panel inquires how collaborative research can inform university teaching. Does it constitute more effective knowledge transfer to societal sectors and develops capacities to respond to the demands of our information societies?
